Stealing The Days “After” Christmas

On December 26th, a child did crouch,

Singing, “Deck the Halls,” until told to shut his mouth.

He kept on singing until “Shut Up!” bellowed the grouch,

Then a child’s smile — one day after Christmas — quickly went south.

I wish I had simply made up the entire set of events; however, just like the fictional Grinch, we sometimes steal the spirit of Christmas in real life with adult behavior very unlike that of our Lord and Savior. Read the rest of this entry »

Decluttering Christmas

January 22nd, 2008 . by Santa Claus

It has been said that less is more.  This holiday season in the spirit of generally simplifying my life I thought I’d see if that’s true.  So what better way than to declutter what for most Americans is the jam-packed pinnacle of all holidays?  Christmas.

Tips To Treat The Holiday Blues

December 29th, 2007 . by Santa Claus

The expectations of the Christmas season are that it is a time to be spent with family, friends and laughter, but for people in the grieving process, the holidays can exacerbate the feelings of grief, and heighten the solitude one already feels.  While grief is unique to each person mourning, teddy offers some tips for getting through the holiday season, and finding joy in spite of pain and loss.

1. Be kind to yourself. Recognize that grief takes time, and your body has had a major blow to it. Grief can be hard on the body. If you suffered a broken leg, you would slow down, and stay off of the leg. When you suffer a broken heart, you need to do the same. Pamper yourself. If everything doesn’t get done, it doesn’t get done. It’s okay.  The holiday season can be hectic, and rushed. When you are grieving, you need to heal and go slow. Give yourself permission. Holiday Stress Relief - 12 Days of Christmas Stress Busters

December 18th, 2007 . by Santa Claus

By Bill Clarke

If you’re looking at the Holidays as just another stress to add to your already overloaded schedule and life, I’ve got some tips you won’t want to miss. Keep reading for Stress Buster Tips that will keep you moving through the Holidays at warp speed with a smile, plenty of laughter, and cheer to spread around.

1. Minimize. Cut out the excesses, whether it’s food, people, gifts, expenses, or extra duties, cut them out of your life.

2. Personal Time. Give yourself a few minutes of down time every day to regroup, refocus, meditate, and alleviate stressors.

3. Focus. Do one thing at a time. Don’t try to get it all done at once, choose one thing and do that, then do the next thing. (It does help to have a list and mark off each item as you complete it.) Read the rest of this entry »
